RECENT UPDATES


ALL THE OLD FAMILIAR PLACES.

The Caves of Chaos, uncomfortably close to the Keep on the Borderlands (“Kendal Keep” to some). Accursed, mist-choked Chateau d’Ambreville -— “Castle Amber” if you don’t speak Sylaire. Castle Ravenloft, whose fallen master broods deep in the heart of Barovia. A smoldering volcano called White Plume Mountain. The Temple of Elemental Evil, which once threatened all of Greyhawk. Three impenetrable lairs of three sinister Giant Lords. Erelhei-Cinlu, called “Vault of the Drow” by surface-dwellers. The Isle of Dread, a savage land where madness is king. The Demonweb Pits, Abyssal domain of the Spider Queen. And, most infamous of all, the deadly Tomb of Horrors.

On the world of Oerth, countless adventurers traveled to these places, and others, in search of fortune and glory. Most found only death, and the few who survived whispered many names in dread: Acererak. Baba Yaga. Grugnur. Count Strahd von Zarovich. Nosnra. Drelnza of the Burning Eyes. Stalman Klim. Brazzemal. Keraptis. Snurre Iron-Belly. Iggwilv. Eclavdra. Dragotha. Iuz the Old. Pasha Khalitharius. The Amber family. Vecna. Miska the Wolf-Spider. Zuggtmoy. Graz’zt. Orcus. Lolth.

Others learned of powerful magical items tied to these servants of darkness: The Rod of Seven Parts, whose shattering ended the Age Before Ages. The Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga, walker of worlds. The Weapons Three: Wave, Whelm, and Blackrazor. The Axe of the Dwarvish Lords, lost for uncounted generations. The Hand and Eye of Vecna, the arch-lich’s unliving legacy. The gleaming treasures of a metal-walled dungeon, high in the Barrier Peaks. The Soul Gem, the Star Gems, and the Crystal of the Ebon Flame. And the Wand of Orcus, called the most fatal talisman ever forged.

Adventurers conquered and plundered these fell places, sending their masters unto the netherworlds. Many artifacts and relics were found and destroyed — or thought destroyed. Ancient evils have sometimes resurfaced, forcing a new generation of heroes to return, or mount expeditions, to these places… but on the world of Oerth, the original adventures happened long ago.

But this is Brynthia, not Oerth. And the adventure is only beginning…
